Qatar Airways’ first Airbus A380, scheduled for delivery in March 2014, has departed Toulouse for cabin fitting and painting in Hamburg.
Doha-based Qatar has 10 A380s on order, which will be configured with 517 seats. Earlier this year, CEO Akbar Al Baker said London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle will be among the type’s launch routes.
The Doha-based carrier has hinted it is likely to formalize its first A380 routes at the Dubai Air Show, where further aircraft orders may be in the pipeline. Al Baker has publically voiced an interest in both the Boeing 777X and Bombardier CSeries.
Qatar will take delivery of its first Airbus A380 next March, followed by another two in 2014. Its first A350 is also due to arrive in 2014.
